Richie Leads Early But Finish Doesn't Show How Good #2 Was in CARQUEST Fall Final
Stafford Springs, CT - The 40-lap SK Modified® feature took the green flag with Curt Brainard taking the lead on lap-1, but Richie Pallai, Jr. moved to the front of the pack on lap-2. Pallai held strong out front until a lap-23 restart that saw Keith Rocco move to the front. Rocco was passed by his main rival for the 2008 championship, Ted Christopher, on the very next lap for the race lead. Christopher stayed out front through a multitude of caution periods, but he lost the race lead on lap-37 when his car slowed suddenly heading down the backstretch and then spun in turn 3, ending his day with mechanical failure. Christopher's misfortune put Woody Pitkat into the race lead and Rocco into a championship clinching position. Pitkat was able to hold Rocco off over the final three laps to take his fifth win of the season, while Rocco claimed the 2008 SK Modified® track championship. Rounding out the top-5 behind Pitkat and Rocco was Jeff Baral, Brainard, and Zach Sylvester. |
